Are there any Wenches that do this? Would you be willing to let me pick your brain for some info. I have simply fallen in LOVE with these little gems. I may take a class. I swear I turn into a magpie every time I come across a new craft.

TIA

Though I haven't done it in a couple years, once I get back to Denver my old teacher and I will be starting up lampworking again. Its a great craft and very relaxing, but since fire is involved it does have its own special hazards as well. If you have ever done silversmithing or worked with PMC, the hazards are similar: you need good ventilation, a fire extinguisher and a first aid kit within easy reach. Other safety items include the goggles (and I can't recall the name of them) that cut out a lot of the yellow spectrum which helps you see better. The books by Bandhu Scott Dunham are helpful too. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Contemporary-Lampworking-Practical-Guide-Shaping/dp/0965897214 Also, if Chihuly glassworks are anywhere near your local botanical garden, inspiration arises from everywhere! http://www.chihuly.com/ Its a little beyond lampworking, but his stuff is OMG amazing! Currently in Phoenix http://www.dbg.org/index.php/chihuly the show moves around.

Check this out as well. They teach glass works there.

Thank you so much for the info. I'm looking into possibly investing in getting the equipment at home in the future (after taking a class). I just need to know what to budget (I'm thinking 1-2k) just to get going. I'm not above buying something used as long as it's in good working order. With so many kiln/torch/type of glass choices I need to educate myself. I knew about the glasses/goggles to protect my eyes.

That artist is AMAZING. I will definatly keep an eye out to see these pieces personally.

When you get up and running again, I'd love to see your work.

Take care.
