I just saw this on GMA and thought I would help spread the word of a way to recycle all the extra techno junk we all seem to accumulate around our homes.
In regards to recycling old hard drives (for those who don't know), if you drill 5 holes around the disc area of the HD, it will destroy your harddirve so no one can get your info.

Also, here's a list of things they accept (http://www.greendisk.com/Pop-ups/Items-to-dispose-of.html).

Or you can just whack the hell out of it with a hammer until it rattles when you shake it! This is also good for working out the stress you went through replacing it. (I used to work for a small IT company and I'd save them until I had a really bad day and then go to town on the old ones)

there is also THIS SITE (http://www.rbrc.org/start.php) as a reference for recycling the more and more common "Cell Phones and Batteries" (and not just cellphone batteries) most of us have stashed around the house because they were "just too much money spent to dispose of" or because "gosh, its still perfectly good, I just have a better one now".
Hubby and I ran into the information on this place at a nascar race we went to last year. They also have a toll free number aside from the website: 1-877-2-RECYCLE

^ I love this site as it shows you right in your own town where to go. I wish they had that for the computers etc. I wouldn't mind mailing it even if they got paid. To recycle responsibly is great but were just making more stuff to recycle by mailing it, I would think.
