So on Friday, Merrick finally got the last few things he needed to get his forge up an running. It got me thinking, do we have any other smiths here? Or anyone else with "unique" hobbies, lampwork beads, that kinda thing.

heh... I spin fire poi for fun and profit. Does that count? *grins* Although last time I practiced I tripped over my own feet and wrapped a chain around my neck, singeing my hair. That will teach me to spin fire when I'm sick... :snicker:

my BF has a forge and also makes chainmail. He also has an addiction to cookin in dutch ovens.
I have 2 inklelooms and make dreamcatchers, magickal wands and witchbottles. Besides making anything with fabric.
we both read but that isn't weird here.

I learned to use a soldering iron about 2 weeks ago, and soldered my first circuit board!
Duckon has a "Build-A-Blinkie" track where you learn to assemble and solder little widgets that have various patterns and complexities of blinking LEDs on them. So I finally decided to try one.
I had a bit of trouble concentrating because there seemed to be a LOT of flash bulbs going off. It actually took quite a while for me to figure out that
1) I was sitting in the chair nearest to the door so I was clearly visible from the hallway and
2) I was in full 16th century Flemish Workingwoman's clothing. With a soldering iron in one hand and a small circuit board in the other.
It never even crossed my mind that there was anything at all odd about the way I was dressed :)

One of my best friends is a glass blower. Occasionally I have been known to sit on the bench and assist him.
I don't do much else other than hold the blow pipe, though.

Lampwork beading, here. On my things to learn list are glassblowing, arc welding and fire dancing. I have a pair of prctice poi made out of tennis balls.
Back in my dancing days I used to eat fire, but gave that up the day my costume caught fire. Still have a small burn scar on my tummy, but thankfully, after gaining weight, the roll covers it. So getting fat is good for something after all!
