Though I'm not sure this is precisely what Virginia Woolf had in mind. Still, some comfy chairs, a few nice curtains-- it'll be cozy in no time.
:hi:
Don't worry Ysobelle, I'm sure we can have the place looking wenchly in no time!! What a nice :grouphug: gathering place for the Wonderfully Wicked Wenches of PA!! :haloslip:
Thank you oh wonderful web mistress!!

This is sweet! I can chat with ya'll now! Our computer is a Yahoo-phobe.
Anyways, no ads here to deal with, either! Love that!
So. Where are ya'll in PA? I'm still in Queen Village in Philly. Ysobelle, if you're nearby, my utter sympathies with your commute to Stockwood. Are the Jersey Turnpike Gods being funded by the wench contingency these coming months? Or have you found an alternate (easier) route?
See ya,

I've tried a couple of different ways-- the "shortcut" across 202 felt interminable, but Lars swore to me it's the shortest way. Last time, though-- and this is only to the rehearsals in Spring Valley, we're not on-site yet-- I took the Garden State all the way up, and waved at NYC along the way. It's the first time I've seen the skyline in a couple of years, and oh, man, was it eerie.
Hey-- you wanna sew for Stockwood? it's not a paying gig, but it'll be...uh...fun! yeah, that's it! Anyone?

202 huh?
First I've heard of it! And yeah, the NYC skyline is now once again similar to what my parents saw growing up. Plays a bit with your head, doesn't it?
SO, recruiting stitch witches are you? Sewing is definately not my strong point. The last time I tried to make a chemise, it turned into an Escher like mess--no inside, no outside. Hrrmmm. :unamused:
What actually needs to be done? There's a mighty number of talented tailor wenches out there who may be jonesin' for some garb-related creation during the winter doldrums...
Someday I will actually FIX my damn sewing machine already, but right now I'm more caught up in finishing character sketches for my up and coming website!
Back to the drawing board,

As for location, I'm in Lansdale (almost 2 months already!).
Ysobelle, Lars says 202 is the shortest way? Does he have you hooking up with 287N and going up that way? I can see in miles where that might be shorter, but it seems to me that it might be faster to take the NE extension to the Jersey Turnpike and picking up 287 at exit 10. But I haven't tried it yet, so don't take my word as gospel. :)
And I don't sew very well (but can do basic stuff without a problem), but I don't have a machine. If that's not an insurmountable problem, I wouldn't mind helping out at all. Anything for our Lars and Stockwood, doncha know. :)
I also have a big dining room table and an open floor plan, so I could offer room to work in....

I have NOOO idea how I went, exactly, last time. It seemed a little more direct, but I was paying the most attention to an NPR story about Robert Smithson's installation piece "Spiral Jetty," (http://www.diacenter.org/ltproj/spiraljetty/) and the transience of some forms of art, so I have no clue where I wound up, except that I was only on the NY Throughway for all of five seconds. T'was that first time going up we wound up on 202, and it sort of worked. Sort of. Next time, who the hell knows how we'll get there? I might go via New Mexico!
Still, I'll know more after this weekend about what I might need as far as sewing help goes. We've just lost one woman who's been hit with an extra load of her own sewing (go, Gayle, go!) so I might have a list ready soon. It's mainly shirts and pants and skirts-- the hardest stuff I'll do myself. Unless I can farm THAT out, too! I know I'm going to be the one doing all the dyeing, and Saturday I do all the measuring, and then next week we order all the fabric, and then I'll have to start the fittings, and...sigh. But it's going to be SO wonderful when it's done! And the design process is always fun.
It's going to be a great year.
