I just got a 17 in laptop and most cases & covers are not large enough. i am going to make me a cover with probably skull patterned fabric. I will lightly pad it and line it with felt to keep fingerprints down.

I was thinking of doing these for sale. In differnt fabrics - pirate, fairy, dragons etc. (kinda like my santa hats fabrics)

Do people use cases like these instead of the huge bags? Would you buy one for your laptop? What would you pay for a custom cover? 15-25? more? less?

opionions???

I would, but for me I know I need something durable (because I do work with kids and they have an amazing way of getting things that are out of reach) and I always look at the cute factor for me. But for a good bag that would last a while- $25.

I made one for my SO's 19 inch laptop monstrosity and he loves it. It made all his friends jealous so I think these would sell well.

I used a cheap micro-suede remnant from the bargain bin for the inside layer and a stiffer "leather like" material that's water resistant for the outside. Between the layers I put a 1/2 inch thick spongy chair cushion thing (technical term) cut to fit. A zipper all the way around and webbed nylon handle I stole from an old bookbag finishes it up. I think it cost about $15 all together and I have lots of fabric left over. If I had time I think it would sell for $20-$25, With customized fabric I think people would love it even more.

Have fun!

There sure are't many cute/pretty bags out there. I have a 10" mini, a 12" and a 17". I have a black bag for the 10" because the only ones I could find with color were way too bulky. I just need something to slip the laptop into that has a pocket/area for the power cord and mouse and that is padded well. Heck I'd pay 30-40$ for the right bag.

i haden't thought of a full bag (hmmm) more like an envelope with a vecroed flap. I saw a button one and thought it looked silly and bummpy. Maybe with a strap.

wonder how hard a small pocket on the out side to add for cords. hmmmm
keep with the ideas It is giving my mind something to work on

if the cover was durable, good looking, and awesome, i would totally buy one... $25. i hate carrying around my huge computer case and a bunch of crap, i would love to just have the computer, the cord, and possibly a pocket for a small CD case. a definitely a strap. hell, with the pockets and the strap i'd even go $35. let us know if you wanna make 'em! i got some other friends who would probably buy too!

With a strap or more for just having at home..kind of a dust cover? Is that what you mean? I would get one, especially a fun one!

I looked up neoprene and it is over a hundred dollars to order a piece. so um thats not gonna happen.

For mine i have cut out and will make later this month (gotta do a wedding dress and a pavillyn top first) a purple skull fabric lined with fleece or felt and stuffed between with batting. I made it like an envelope so the laptop slides in. I wanted a cover for around the house and to protect it sliding in & out of the rolly bag.

I will post when it gets done and think about straps & pockets & things.
