I like the looks of it.

I am in "The Home" and the only thing I see is that you have sponser an endangered species twice. The second one says ask to do this for your birthday. I thought that was a wonderful idea.

I am going back to look at the rest of the site.

You really know your stuff.

Have you considered an area for people building their own home? There are so many things we can do to build green.

I will be building a new home with straw bales in the next couple of years. This is a great way to build. You can build a home without trees....an amazing concept.

Use bambo for flooring. It is beautiful....and you're not cutting down trees.

I won't go on anymore. I can get carried away with this idea. I am learning about building green myself.

Your site has been bookmarked to share with my children.

Thank you so much for your comments, Anna! I fixed the duplicate entry in the Home section, thanks for the heads up!

As for home building, that's a great idea. We do currently have the suggestion for using natural fibers and flooring - I'll add a comment about bamboo :) What I expect we'll do, rather than have a section on building your own home, is to make the suggestion that people consider it, and then link to some of the wonderful resources already out there, Some of these sites and magazines are updated every week or month with new ideas, and it would be silly for us to try and duplicate the great information they're providing.

(And please, feel free to get carried away! Shanen and I don't pretend to know everything there is! Every time I think I'm mostly done, I think of something else... LOL)

And good for you for building green! My sister is currently getting quotes on going solar in her home. She moved to Yuma, where the sun is always shining, so it makes perfect sense for her! (I wish we could do that, but I live in an apt - and the property managers won't even give us a recycling bin, so I doubt the idea of a $10,000 investment for solar conversion will be something they would entertain.)

Oh, I meant to ask... There are a few concerns I have regarding ease of use for the website, so maybe you can give me your opinion(s)...

Are the long scrolling pages a problem? My first thought was to paginate it, but I'm afraid that people won't notice that there's more, or they won't feel like bothering to keep going. I normally avoid long pages, but I can't decide if its better for this dynamic.

Also, did you notice the "But wait, there's more" links on some of the entries? I can't tell if they are obvious enough. We don't have a ton of info in the extended details sections yet, but we'll be adding to those extenstively, including links to great related resources, etc.

Thanks!

I like the scrolling. I don't like going from page to page. I find it tedious after the second page and usually don't continue to read the site.

I did notice the.....there's more.....just not at first. It might be better if they were a bit larger or perhaps in red?!?!? Please take into account that I'm an oldie and the eyes aren't what they used to be.

Haha - that's OK - I expect other "oldies" to be reading this too! Thanks for the extra info - that answered my questions, and it seems my gut was right on both counts. :)

Wow, loved the site. I do a lot of it already, but you pointed out some really simple things I hadn't thought of.

The site was a pleasure to read. I didn't see the Here's More....but the scrolling is great. I loved the clean, uncluttered look of the site.

Would you be open to additional items you could add? There are some ideas that came to mind about driving, and maybe a good link you could add with more tips like a slight lowering in speed, not carrying extra weight so empty your car out etc.

Alleahnna - great suggestions - I added the weight issue into While Driving. I had thought we covered that one already, but I realized we used that concept in the Shopping section, for when people buy new cars (avoiding extra features that add weight). And I added the speeding issue to the Drive Calmly ione n While Driving too - thanks!

 Now why didn't I think of that? Your way is so much smarter than my idea.

You are too cool.

LOL oh stop - its just that there is SO much to know about buliding your own home (as I'm sure you're learning!). I just don't know enough about all the small details - and honestly, I have so much going on, there's no way I could keep up with all the great info out there. (And not being a homeowner or homebuilder, I can't even add any personal experience or insights. (yet! If I can ever afford to buy land in Del Mar........ )

In the yard might tell people to xeriscape. Save on that precious water.
