View Full Version : Kentucky Faire Wenches Needed
Hi ladies! The management at the KYRF have contacted me regarding a wench show. I need to know who all will be interested in working. This will probably NOT be a paid position (apprentice-like) and they are wanting wenches who can do a stage show, street mingling, and help with pub sings. The faire will start in June and run 6 weekends. It will be a "hard" faire. I need to know how many wenches will be interested in being a part of this new endeavor so please reply here and let me know. Any and all ideas are welcome also as we'll be needing them I'm sure!

Okay, so from the lack of response, I'm thinking no one is interested? Really?

My friend and I are very interested in being helper wenches. We might be able to get another wench as well. Let me know the details when you get them!! http://pyracy.com/forums/html/emoticons/smile.gif

Oh and I have been getting details from Ky Ren Fest and have offered to help them with the faire site itself.
Thanks sweets! Yes, he's aware that we are all going to coordiante to be able to help out. I've told him to contact us regarding anything they need from site construction (happening now) to promos and stuff (happening closer to faire time). Please blast me an e-mail with your name and contact information and anything you can do (sing, dance, be silly, etc) I'm trying to coordinate an e-mail list or group so we can figure on what we want to do and all that...rehearsals, announcements, etc. Glad to hear you are coming aboard! We are SO excited!!!

We'll definitely have a third wench, even if she'll have to be coaxed out of the Bronze Age and into the Medieval/Renaissance eras first.

I am interested - I just haven't been able to check the boards lately - they seem to be down a lot :)
Oh well...
I am interested though. I would just need transport and rehersal stuff.

I contacted the main folks with the Faire about a week ago with a brief introduction to the IWG and to some things about our Local, since I'm not sure if they are aware of the IWG as a whole. I've not heard anything back, but I also offered my services in helping with any handicapped accessibility issues they may have or advice that they may need.
As far as our presence as a group (as a Local) on site, that's something that we can definitely meet with them and present. To have an official hostel/to be on site in an "official" capacity (doing wench walks, wenchings, etc.) is going to take some planning from us (i.e. what would we like to do on a site if we were welcomed? How many of us would be there on a regular basis? etc etc.) and meeting with them in an official capacity. I'm more than willing to lead these efforts if there is interest within the Local to do so. Let's start to discuss that soon if you ladies are interested in this.
Just for clarification, though, this is regarding recruiting Wenches for cast independently of the Guild/guild activities, right?
At this point, I'm unsure of how much I can/could possibly be involved on a weekly level, mainly due to gas prices (since I live 1.5 hrs away) and health concerns. I would like to attend weekly (or as much as possible), but I'm not sure how much of a commitment I can give toward working or volunteering with the Faire until closer to the Faire.
I'm excited for the Faire, though, and I'd love to support it, both on a personal and Guild level! Have you heard any more from them, Lucy?

I'm so glad you're excited!!! Me too!! After talking to the etertainment director tonight, he doesn't want to get into being official guild business just yet. I told him about all the other faires that have great success with this and maybe in the future after the faire is more established we could get into that. I'm also assuming it would be inappropriate on both ends of this to be wearing the wench pins so if you are planning to work, don't plan on wearing it.
As it stands, I am his contact for this particular wench show and anyone who would like to be involved should let me know so we can get the roster done. There will be lots of singing, court confrontation, street mingling, and MORE SINGING! :) The official dates of the faire (so far) will start June 3 and continue on the weekends ending July 9th. But people will be needed for rehearsals on weekends prior and maybe some promos whenever needed. If you are interested, please contact me via PM or e-mail at lucybuckles @ gmail ddot comm.
Also, we will be meeting at some point to discuss costuming and to brainstorm and stuff, most likely this will happen in Louisville because there are wenches coming from both sides and it seems to be the happy medium. I will let everyone know when and where.

I senf both you and Denise an e-mail which should be there shortly. :)

It's mostly up to the Faire directors regarding this; so long as everything is within Guild/Local guidelines, there is usually no problem in wearing Guild pins so long as the faire's directors are fine with it, too. :)
If I were closer, I'd love to be involved more directly. I do plan to be involved in some capacity, but it's something that's dictated more by circumstance as it draws nearer. I'm sure it's that was for some other Wenches in our Local, especially toward TN and the extreme Eastern and Western portions of the state.
Are they looking for other cast? Has anyone posted to the IBRSC board? Perhaps there are some S IN/S IL/S OH Rogues that may be interested in assiting with volunteer positions or trying out for cast. :)
Any word on entertainment they've booked yet? :)
No, they are apparently going to sit down in January and make all the other final decisions as far as vendors and stuff. I have posted this info EVERYWHERE...ahem...except the rogues board...but I'll go take care of that now, thanks for the reminder...duh. It's been posted to all the other newsgroups and places I could think of...though if anyone remembers one I missed, please let me know! LOL!

What do you mean by "hard" faire?
Where is the KYRF located at? My mind's not all here right now, I can't remember stuff at the moment, tired.

"Hard Faire" means permanent buildings, not tents (there may be tents for the few first seasons as they build, but the main area will have permanent structures, and they'll likely add on as years pass).
It will be in Eminence (Henry County), which is in N KY, E of Louisville. :)
XOXO
