Visit to your shire

Hi, my home faire is Bristol and my family and I will be visiting the MI faire this weekend (24/25). MI used to be my home faire - I grew up in Davisburg (on Davisburg Rd. even!), but I have not been to the MI faire in years. I am so very excited to see it again, how it's changed, and to just, plain have fun! Could any of you give me advice on "must see" shows, venders, and anything that you can think of that would be helpful? I have two children so any advice on kid stuff would be appreciated as well. Thank you in advance! I would also, of course, love to meet the wenches of MI as well :D

Hey Nicole!!

Well, my wee one is 7, so I am on it with the kids stuff!! :D We have a large and very active Children's Dell with the usual playscape kind of stuff and playhouses. There is also arts and crafts that happen all day long. There is a puppet show, a Knighting Ceremony, Tea with the Fairies (think it costs $3 and the kids get lemonade and cookies and stories) and Knights Tales (same thing as Tea with the Faires). I can't recall the times for the event off the top of my head, but just ask anyone in the Children's Dell. There are also games and such geared toward kids in that area too - Bunny Fencing, Jousting - OH! and there is a bird house there where you can go in and feed the birds.

Shows, hmm.. The Fox Hunt, Shea Laurel, Owain Phyfe, Rogue Blades, Ded Bob (the innuendos go over Erin's head, but depending on your kids ages, this one is up to you), the Zucchini Brothers and the Muskateer/Pirate fights are my highlights. I don't do much shopping, so I can't really help you on that one (however, Erin seems to spend a pretty penny on things like fairy wings, wooden swords and shields, necklaces etc.)

Our Hostel is at Uncommon Adornments, right by the wishing well. Find any Wench and we will be happy to show you how to sneak in the back way. :D

Hello, if you can't find us before 1ish, meet up at the fountain in front of Uncommen Adornments at 1:15. That's where we muster for walks. I will have a black Odd Bodkin Bodice on and a holly themed overskirt on and probably my brown hair in two pigtail braids.

We will have a busy weekend full of targets and such.

As for shopping I always recommend Royal Glassmakers for bodice chillers.
