Animal Cruelty - 2 teenage girls (NJ)

While I do not normally bring my world of animal cruelty to the table here, there are some situations that I think truly garner outside support. There is a very disturbing case of animal cruelty in NJ at the moment - two teenage girls tortured a kitten... More can be found here:

Please take a moment and write to the DA to ask that these girls undergo a psych eval and mandatory counseling if they are convicted.... This case disturbs me so much - and after 3000+ cases, it takes a lot to disturb me.

I can actually speak to some of the higer ups in the police there.....and make a face to face request if you want...

It is one of the good things about my studies....I have police connections all over the state now!

I will see what I can do and also talk to a few dept cheifs from other counties as well to see if they will help out.

Well, the police are already handling this (not that I am discouraging you from chiming in - another voice will always help.) This is now in the hands of the DA, and being that the position of DA is an elected position, lots of noise - especially from NJ citizens - could go far.

I am just afraid that these girls will get off with comunity service, and not actually wind up with any counseling. They are *clearly* disturbed, and need immediate intervention.

My honest thoughts are that they are victims of sexual abuse, and this is how they are acting out.

No, I know it is already there, but see, these guys and gals all travel in small circles...a few calls from cheif ans dept cheifs go a long way for things like these.....

they love to scratch each other on the back and I happen to be close to a few dept cheifs....

they are good guys and know the bad signs, even may call in a few retired guys to call them as well to push the issue that they be tested....

That is very wrong, and a sign for many bad things to come from them....sadly, even if they do test them, chances are they will still just get community service and the request the parents seek psychological help for the girls.

they may require them to seek counseling, but that would probably e short lived....but I will do my best, as well as write a letter from D and myself!

You all have no idea how something like this both saddens and frightens me. And not just for the sake of the kitten. These two children and what they have done is a symptom of what is developing into a sick, callused society with little regard for life, morals, etc. At least one, according to the news report, showed no remorse for what she did. I only hope it's not too late for counseling.

I've read numerous times abusers, serial killers, etc., generally get their start abusing animals. It's primarilly for this reason I find animal abuse so abhorant (not that I don't find it so for the sake of the animals though).

I'm not particularly fond of cats in general (personal taste; nothing is wrong with cats, I just prefer dogs) but the mental image of that poor little kitten, injured and buried up to its neck, is going to bother me for quite a while.

Anf for all the stories we hear about...think of all the ones we DON'T. This is sick and inexcusable. Someone should stab and stomp on them and bury them up to their necks and see how they like it (you think I'm kidding don't you).
