    Default Dark undereye circles?

Ok, ok, perhaps I've had a few too many late evenings with my Rogue lately.

I know that spoons in the fridge and then placed over the eyes are supposed to help, and apparently the whole Preparation H thing is a myth.

Anyone have a suggestion as to how I can combat these with more than concealer? I'm working as cast at the Florida Pirate Festival next weekend, and I'm sick of hating how I look in photos.

hmmm... OK, I don't have dark circles, but I've got genetic 'bags' that with age and time will turn into my grandfather's luggage..

After doing a google, here's what I found at http://www.azcentral.com/style/artic...kcircles.html:

Dark circles are caused by one of three primary reasons. Here's the quick and dirty on which solution works best for each type.

    - Bone structure. If you have deep-set eyes, shadowing contributes to the dark color under the eyes. Your best bet: camouflage. Look for concealers with yellow undertones, which counteract the bluish cast to under-eye circles.

    - Pigmentation. Genetic hyper-pigmentation is the most treatable form of dark circles. Your best bet: Try a lightening cream or talk to a dermatologist about chemical peels or laser resurfacing.

    - Vasculature inflammation. Late nights, allergies and nutritional deficiencies can enlarge the blood vessels beneath the thin under-eye skin. Your best bet: Take care of yourself! Sounds cliché but drink that water, get your beauty sleep, eat a healthy diet and avoid cigarette smoke (easy enough, right?).
Also, here's another article at http://beauty.about.com/od/foundatio...arkcircle.htm:

Option 1: Use a proper concealer. Test out the best colors at a department store counter or at Sephora. (Tip: Tell the makeup artist you are looking to correct the undereye circles and are testing several different types before purchase). Choose concealer that's a shade lighter than your foundation. And if your circles are very dark, go 2 shades lighter. You might be choosing a concealer that's too light if you are getting a 'raccoon look.' Celebrity makeup artist Jake Bailey likes to use Kanebo's concealer pen ($30, 800-558-1855). Other great concealers include: Revlon New Complexion Concealer, Estee Lauder Smoothing Skin Concealer, Cover Girl Concealer (in stick form) & Neutrogena Under Cover Concealer Stick (also in stick form).

Option 2: Invest in a vitamin K-based eye product Eye creams such as Vita-K Solution gel ($10.50 at drugstores) or Peter Thomas Roth Power K Eye Rescue ($100 at Sephora) help strengthen capillary walls so veins become less visible.

Option 3: Laser treatment If you have a chronic case of undereye circles, you should contact a doctor about lasers. Lasers can thicken the skin by increasing collagen production, so you are less likely to see veins, according to Los Angeles facialist Kate Somerville in June 2005 issue of InStyle magazine.
hon, it looks like rest, treatment and concealer are your best alternatives to the laser surgery.

Okay...I had to laugh.....Prep H works for bags and puffiness, but not necessarily dark circles.

You might try sliced cucumbers or cold tea bags. I don't know if the tea bags will help, as it's usually used for puffiness too, but it might be worth a try.

You might also try almond oil. Almond helps to remove dark circles, and is an excellent "skin food". Remove the cream applied around the eye after 10 min. No cream should be left on the skin around the eyes for long periods.

I don't know what your budget is, Bonnie Scarlet, but I have found that Clinique's All About Eyes cream is really good and effective. Actually I could never afford it myself, but if you make friends with a Clinique rep, like I did, when you buy something there they will sometimes have free samples of that stuff and slip you a few.

The stuff is awsome. Before I did acutane and had acne I used it all the time for that too. It covered even acne real well.

As a former esthetician (you know, the ladies who gives facials and do bikini waxing... eek!!), Vitamin K is were it's at.

It doesn't have to just applied topically either, if you can find Vit. K tablets, they might help too.

All of my other suggestions have been echoed by other ladies.

Lots of water, rest, warm to cool tea bags (cafienated tea is ok, doesn't have to be herbal tea).

Also, try "rain drops". after you put on your night time moisturiser take your middle and ring fingers and gently tap like rain drops on your orbital bone and gently around your eye, it will help flush out the excess water that is being retained.

The tissue under your eyes has no sebaeous (oil ) glands, so when the waether is dry and your skin starts to dry out, water will retain in those areas to try and maintain healthy function. Keeping your skin well moisturised helps.

remember- hot showers feel sooooo good, but wash your face with lukewarm water.

I know it sounds simplistic, but I had the same problem. Then a cardiologist made me start drinking more water for a heart arrhythmia and lo and behold, both the arrhythmia and circles cleared up.
