hey I started back on phase 1 yesterday after a faire-season of misbehaving (only gained 5 lbs woot!) I'm only doing a week of phase 1 and then on to 2 this is mainly for maintenance (and how much better I feel eating this way) but I'm in for checking in, support etc.

Yeay! We'll check in! I've never done this diet before--I'm a lifetime WW, but it doesn't make any sense to me anymore. I gained a ton (well, not really a ton) this faire season too. So many ciders, so little time!

Gwenyver--the SB diet is based on glycemic index. I'll try and post more details later, or PM you if you're interested. I don't know that much about it yet. I'm trying to get a grocery list together for tomorrow. It's been the week from h@#$, but I'm beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

I googled South Beach, just for the heck of it, and there's actually an online type thing. You have to pay $5 a week, but it seems pretty cool. FYI.

And, I will do this...but I'm going to have to make a trip to the grocery store, so it may be this weekend before I start.

I joined the doo-hickie online on a whim, and it's actually pretty nice. I want to make sure I get started right. I just generated my grocery list for the first few days. I have one cheat, wait--make that trade off planned. I don't think I can eat their deserts, and honestly, I gotta have a beer!

you'd be shocked how good the ricotta is lol (trust me I was totally a sceptic) BUT. . .if you do the chocolate one. . .at least DOUBLE the amount of cocoa it says to use (that way you REALLY get the chocolate fix . . . .and its ALMOST like eating cheesecake;)

I also do no sugar added (with splenda) fudgecicles, and sugarfree jello pudding cups. . . (not listed in either book, but as far as I'm concerned legal)

When I can get to it, I'll probably join online as well. For me, that'll be more assistance than trying to follow a book. And, the regular 'check in' factor will help as well.

Just out of curiousity, what's the exercise philosophy with this plan?

OK Constance--the ricotta is going back on the grocery list. I'm going to trust you on this one.

Gwyn--I haven't read a lot of the fitness portion of SB. From what I can see online, they recommend 20-30 minutes a day. But then it says anything is better than nothing. We have a community center almost right across the street with an indoor track. I'm going to walk a few times a week.

Well, I'm having a good day! I GOT A JOB!!! I can stop selling off my garb for Christmas cash now! Huzzah!

Anyway, it's been pretty busy, and I'm positive I haven't eaten nearly enough. Hopefully I'll be able to pay a little more attention to what I'm doing tomorrow.
I meant to sneak out to a store and weigh myself on a scale--maybe I'll just break down and buy one. After I know what I weigh, I'll post it here for the public humiliation factor and also my goal.

    Ciao!

having a good day here had a semi-sucky/ odd one yesterday. . . went to lunch with my parents who were in town for a funeral. got through lunch without a hitch went to leave and my car wouldn't start. ended up having to leave the car therea nd go back after my S/O got off work. . . spent most of the evening trying to find this wonky part . . . only to find out it would have to come from a dealership I was suppoed to cook dinner, but instead my honey treated me to a dinner out. . .(I know what the book says about eating out, but I've never had trouble honestly. . .) got car towed to shop this morning went to lunch with mechanic friend (she's on SB too) and I'm supposed to cook a thai curry for dinner (eating it plain with no rice). I originally said I was only going to do a week of phase one. . .but I may go ahead and do two. . . my body is adjusting well to the change.

OH don't post your weight for the humiliation factor:) think of it as motivation to be able to post a lower one later. . . I firmly believe that negativity makes you retain water! ;)
