    Default Chemical sensitivity

Yesterday early evening, I was exposed to an herbicide. The exposure was accidental (my friend feels bad about it. I was picking up some mountain bikes and neither oone of us had any idea that her other half was spraying the graveled areas at their house for weeds.) Anyway, I did get showered and changed into new clothes within 10 minutes of the exposure. I am now in the I hurt all over, itch and feel sick stage. (Hate to think how I would feel if I had actually been sprayed instead of walking by where it had been sprayed.) I managed to avoid blisters on the exposed portions of my feet by showering quickly and taking an allergy pill.

My question is, does anyone have any suggestions or information on some ways to help deal with this problem. I can't even walk within 15 feet of an open bottle of the stuff much less through an area that has been sprayed. And this goes for pesticides and chemical fertilizers too.

Wow, that's scary. What do the doctors tell you about dealing with this? I wish I had suggestions for you. My son has peanut/legume allergies, so I understand. One time when he was little, just sitting at the dinner table by me while I was eating lentle soup sent him to the emergency room! Peanut allergies are deadly, I wish there was even more awareness about it, I find people still think that it's no big deal.People don't realize how sensitive a persons body can be to substances that are just in the air, you don't have to eat it or even be in direct line of it if you have a really bad sensitivity to something. I hope you find some good suggestions, feel better soon!

Call your local Poison Control Center. They should have MSDS copies for all the common herbicides and can give you information on what to do for exposure. You need to be especially careful since you are so sensitive and let them know that inhalation as well as skin contact was likely. If they recommend a trip to a specialist, I would urge you to go, as they will hopefully know some way of getting it out of your system before it does more damage.

    Good luck and get well!
