Ok, why after logging off (closing down my web browser and everything) does it still say on the main list of forum threads that I am in the chatroom when, in fact I am NOT in the chatroom?

mine does that sometime too. I think it is when I forget to log out of the chatroom itself, that it shows you still in there.
