    Default Commercials at the Movies

Ok, I know someone posted a while back that they managed to get their theatre to knock it off with the commercials. Help, please!
We saw Pirates last night: tally is up to 2 commercials per preview, and the commercials were individually longer than the previews. All this at the local $6.75-student-cheap-rate theatre. We're all sick of the 5 minute Joe Boxer commercial. And Mountain Dew can bite my pale wenchy @$$. There is another theatre, about 20 minutes away, that's a bit cheaper... but there's a decided decrease in sound quality (either whisper soft, or ear-piercing, but nowhere in between) and picture quality (focus!), and there's a huge number of _noisy_ kids, even at the R movies.
I've got a group of people willing to sign a letter or petition to get the closer theatre to stop the crap, but we're having trouble coming up with wording that isn't just downright insulting or rude... if you've gotten yours to stop, tell us how?

GOOD LORD! Two commercials? That's it?!

Wow. I used to complain about sitting through 20 minutes of previews, but now it's more like 20 minutes of commercials and, maybe, three previews. (On the plus side, I no longer worry about missing anything if I show up 15 minutes late.)

If this nonsense can be stopped though . . .

Yeah, this totally cheeses me off too. I pay to see a MOVIE, not watch 20 minutes of commercials! Now I'm PAYING to listen to companies sell me their junk??!!! THEY should be paying ME! You may want to include in your petition that instead of inspiring people to buy their products, the ads are just pissing them off to an extent that they'll go out of their way NOT to buy their crap.

You are most welcome to my 2 cents.

Talking about the "P" word...adding twenty some odd minutes of commercials means I have to wait twenty some odd minutes more before I can make it to the priv after the movie. It's amazing how fast I can move with my legs crossed!

We went to see Pirates...two nights ago, managed to miss all the commercials by showing up at showtime...big advantage but then sat through 15 minutes of previews and almost didn't get a seat... ya win some and you lose some. I could live without the previews as well...

A few weeks ago one of the movie commercials was for Friends...the tv show for heavens sake...if I wanted to see commercials I would stay home..I could deal with it if tickets prices went down but that sure isnt happening...its truly annoying

See, I so rarely go to theatres that I hadn't even known about this new trend. I went to see Pirates last week for the first time, and sat watching all these commercials..and kept thinking they were trailers. I was watching the Friends Commercial, and asked my friend if they were making a movie out of it...and how gay was that? Then I figured out they were ALL commercials. It's REALLY annoying.

What's even more annoying is buying a video tape or DVD and having a commercial on IT. I actually have VHS tapes with commercials in front of the movie.

I figure if my ticket price is going to go up then I shouldn't have to watch commercials. I like the little theater in my town because they are cheap and there are no commercials. They also don't show a mess load of previews, which is good and bad. I would talk to the manager at the mall theater but he is a jerk so I won't even bother. I think the problem with the mall theater is that it is now owned by a huge franchise interested only in making a buck. If no one complains to the franchise it won't get changed. Has someone already written a letter to their movie place and gotten results?

The previews and commercials are all mixed together around here... they started weasling the commercials in over the last year, till there's practically no previews. Showing up late is never a good idea at our local theater if the movie is anywhere near new: there's usually lines to get into the actual theater part that start anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour before showtime. bleh. For a good movie (LOTR), it's worth it to send someone ahead to save seats. For everything else, we takes our chances. But showtime comes, and THEN the commercials start. *golem voice* We hates them!

All threatres are differnt in this. When i saw pirates at Amc 30 and the plano movie grill there were no comericals but during other movies at other threates ive gotten comermicals. Its kinds like you can go to the same movie at three differnt threatres and see differnt previews.

in my opipion if there going to show them, they better drop ticket prices
