My Dad who just returned to school to get his Masters in Divinity called us Monday, laughing about this. He said that it was in the school news, and that they were all encouraged to teach their classes at their churches in dialect. No joke.
Would my Dad do it? Yes?
Will he have a good dialect? No.

When I was I the pulpit, many years ago, my parishoners would never know what to expect on Sundays. Once I filled the sanctuary with balloons (both helium and not) <yeah that Saturday was just fun filled in my house> for a sermon on the how the spirit fills even th meekest, filled the hymnals with Band-Aids for a sermn on "first aid faith", had a puppet ministry, bears for prayers and all kinds of other things. One must do what one must to get the information of your faith out there. It's so easy to fall alseep in church. lol

One Sunday, I at the pulpit getting ready for the service and I noticed one of my parishoiners peeking around the corner of the door. I called out to her and asked if everything was OK and she said she was just checking to see what mayhem I had in store for them today. I asked her what kind she would like and she smiled and said, "Just an old fashioned service if you please." It was what I had planned, so it all worked out well.

I left the ministry about 1 year later ( 10 years ago), after my Karma ran over my Dogma. I do miss it and fill in for local ministers now and again and do weddings for fellow Pagans and other non-church going people.

DameGoode - tell you dad good luck. The calling is a wonderful experience if you're not being pulled in 2 directions.
