    Default Contact Lens Wearers?

So I just got contacts and so far, I love the fact that I actually have clear peripheral vision! This is totally new to me since I've been in glasses since 3rd grade. I had them once before but they just weren't right, but since they've made improvements for contacts for astigmatism, I'm so there.

Anyhoo... I want to order online and there are sooooo many sites out there. Seems that 1-800-CONTACTS is the cheapest, anyone know of cheaper?

I can't wait to go out and buy sunglasses! Oh... How I've always wanted to buy cute sunglasses and not have to pay 150-200 bucks for them!
Move along, nothing to see here...

I know EXACTLY what you mean! Last year, right before I started my senior year of High School, I got contacts, and it was amazing. The best part for me was being able to not wear glasses during plays I was in, and still be able to see everyone else on stage.

But the cute sunglasses thing was totally a perk that I did not mind!! haha

I've only bought contacts from my eye doctors, because I order a year's worth everytime I go to have my eyes checked, since usually I need a new perscription by then. So I can't really help out with where you might want to buy yours.

    Congratulations on being de-spectacled!

It really depends on the brand you are ordering. My specific brand is no cheaper through any online ordering site. Check around online and compare to your cost through your eye doctor. I have found that the service through your doctor is better. I got a bad lens once and my eye doctor replaced it for me. Don't know if any online site will do that.

I've been wearing lenses for 25 years and have never found a better deal than through my doctor..........

You might check Sam's Club or Walmart - they're very reasonable. I currently go through American's Best and get six pair for about $35 - a FAR cry from what they used to be back in the day.

I've worn contacts for years as well - and still love 'em. Some day I may have laser surgery done - but for now, I'm happy with my contacts.

it really depends on the brand and prescription.

my contacts (purevision 30-day, -8 and -8.5) are the same price from 1-800 contacts delivered as they are at my eye doctor's.

the last brand i had (baush and lomb 2-week) were cheaper at 1-800 contacts.

my brothers both have astigmatism, and theirs' are cheaper at walmart/sam's club (i don't know what brand they have. i know one of them has really bad astigmatism).

the best bet is to get your prescription and shop around (online my experience has been 1-800 contacts is cheapest/fastest).

on a related note, i looooooove my contacts! w/ my prescription, items appear nearly twice the size when i am wearing contacts as opposed to glasses (my glasses presc. is nearly -11)... my glasses were getting so thick (even w/ the expensive thin lenses) that i had pretty gnarly tunnel vision (which sucks when driving!!)...
i've even switched to ones i can sleep in so i can see when i wake up, too (though whether or not you sleep in them is b/w you and your eye doctor, and your personal experience. i've personally never had any side effects but i know lots of others that have).
have fun, good luck! (and yeah, the firs tthing i did was go to the dollar store and load up on sunglasses... and i was glad i didn't need to buy $400 prescription safety glasses anymore, too! (plus, on the rare occassion that i wear eye makeup- i have a lot more options AND it is easier to apply :))
BTW, i think it improved the look of my costumes, too :)

    Thanks!

I'm wearing the Acuvue Toric lenses and so far, 800-CONTACTS is the cheapest at 50 bucks a box with 12 lenses in each.

I can't wait to be able to wear them at faire with all my garb and stuff! Yay! And makeup? Don't even get me started! I just bought the plum eye kit from Bare Minerals and it looks great, but you can't see it behind the glasses... but now you can!

I feel like I'm having a makeover or something... I have a hair appointment on Tuesday night and I'm just letting my hairdresser have at it. I think I'm going to go for something a bit on the funky side. Dark on the bottom, bright copper in the middle and strawberry blonde in the front... Something like that anyway...

Oh, sorry, I think I got away from myself...

    Wink Re: Contact Lens Wearers?

I wear Acuvue Colors in bright blue (I have dark brownish hazel eyes) I get compliments all the time. ^_^ Too bad they're not available in extended wear...
Just because you have dark eyes doesn't mean you cant wear the pretty colors. Green and bright blue show up best. I would avoid hazel and grey if you have other than light blue or another pale color. If you are lucky enough to be light-eyed, then you can mix the tints to get vivid results.
They dont cost anymore than regular lenses at Walmart.
