I had realized that here I am Pagan and Proud and yet most of my family and Terri's will wonder at certain things so I wanted to incorporate them into the Wedding program with a bit of backround and history so that they could understand more clearly
i really do appriciate you ladies for helping out on this.
Terri and I did our Betrothel 2 years ago and now we are making it legal and all 8)

Gardo...an alternative to hopping the broom is the exchange of keys and sword....your bride hands you your sword and acknowledges that you will protect hearth and home...you hand her the keys as the person who basically manages the home and estate....

that is so cool Gardo...we just basically said (to my Italina family that I am adopted into) we will have a Celtic Handfasting during the wedding ceremony. They asked and I explained what it was. I figure if people at the wedding want to know, they will ask me since we only invited close friends and family, so knowing them, they either already know what it is, or believe me they are not ashamed to ask what the hell was that all about!!!

Something I've done in the past is help write wedding/handfasting ceramonies for people, to help incomperate the flavors of both into the ceramony.
Ideas that I can remember are simple things like: Tying the hands together loosely (loose enough so that rings can still be exchanged.) Creating a Handfasting Ribbon. (looks like a Priest's Sash but decorated with symbols, sayings, and peices of clothing that maybe you/she wore the first time you met, and other important things. I've had friends sew on buttons, punch holes in coins and sew those on, add photos that have been printed on fabric.)
The one that I wanted to so, was starting at the two ends, I wrote our birthday, then for each year, placed something that was important, and segnifigant to us as individuals. Then marked the year we met. I then took the two colors I was using as a boarder and ran them together into a circle, creating a spiral that marked every year we were together, what we did, to the day we were supose to be married. The center of the Spiral I created two circles that looked like a two Wedding rings, that marked the day we were to take our vows. I over lapped the two colours, so signify the binding and connecting of two souls into one life.
We never were able to use ours, because our wedding was postponed, and when we did get married last year, we eloped.
I've worked with a few couples on creating their ceramonies and handfasting ribbons, because it was in my intention to marry folks based on their spiritual desire and need. I still have the ablility to marry people, it's just that those plans go segwayed, but I still help create handfasting ribbons.
Maybe that will give you an idea. The ribbon can also double as the "Ring barer pillow" and have two draw string pockets in the ends to carry the rings. We would just mark them in two different shades so that we knew who's rings to remove from the pocket, and not get the two confussed.
