Ok, this made me laugh so much this morning. It's so wrong, but oh so so right. You'll need ears (speakers) for this one to truly appreciate it.

I watched it twice to make sure I wasn't being overly sensitive but I just didn't find it funny at all; I found it offensive. I have a sense of humor when it comes to GLBT issues; people who know me personally know I'm always wisecracking about being a lesbian and a transsexual. But this went over the line.
I'm not at all familiar with the Back Street Boys. But even if I were, I still couldn't care less if one or the whole lot of them were gay. So what if one was gay?

I was okay with it up until the "he's wearing women's clothing" line, then it just seemed kinda...mean-spirited.
Though I have to admit, if I heard it at a gay club, I'd laugh. I'm fine with people poking fun at their own stereotypes if THEY'RE okay with it, but I'm not going to do it for 'em. I'll laugh with someone, but not at them.
Besides which, one of 'em once wore a Sisters of Mercy shirt onstage, so they score BIG points in my book. BIG.

you know what?
I'll laugh at stereotypes in plenty, but not at people.
To me, any stereotype is hysterical, because its so one dimensional. I'm a natural blonde, but do I get offended at the blonde jokes? No. My sister is Polish in heritage (through her father) but she thinks the Polish jokes are a riot.
People, however...I love people. All people, no matter who they are or where they came from.
The Backstreet Boys song? Funny. Stereotyping? Sure. But unless it's describing you and all you are, I'm not laughing at you.
I know no matter what I say, there will be those who think I'm being insensitive, but at some point, we all have to deal with our own wounded feelings. If more folk did that, there'd be less legislating of morality and political correctness.
So sue me.
