It's weird. It sort of starts, moves along, and...stops. I felt like it's half a book: that while yes, it's the middle (ish) book of a series, stuff should get...I don't know, more thoroughly furthered, if not resolved. You know?
It's not like we don't know she can move things along in a non-terminal book. The Anita Blake books have some long-term themes, but are complete story arcs. Obviously, in a series with one great arch, it's going to be different. I know that. It just seems SbM has a bit of an arbitrary stopping point.
Well...you'll let me know what you think when you've devoured it, no?
Oh, and yeah, I know you love to read, but...ha. I don't think any crowbar is required. I believe a badger clearing his throat would do the trick.
