    Default LOVING WENCHES

    Hi all,
This is more out of curiousity than prying into anyones private life, but since being amazed by the out pouring of understanding during the Transsexual thread, I thought I'd bring this topic up.

From those that privately e-mailed me and the various remarks many wenches have made in their posts, I get the sense that there are a number of wenches out there that are attracted to other wenches. As I mentioned during the Ts postings, I myself am lesbian.

I think that wenches attracted to other women would naturally find being a wench a supportive place to be, as most of the lesbian women I know feel as most wenches do, that women are superior to men; and prefering a womans company to a mans comes naturally.

I'm happy to see from the very limited contact I've had with lesbian women in the guild, that they feel comfortable and accepted here, and free enough to be *out* with their faire friends. That says alot about the kind of wonderful people that make faire such an awesome experience. I applaud the courage of the lesbian wenches out there, not only for celebrating the beauty of being a wench; but for the beauty of being a woman, and realizing that their attraction to that beauty celebrates them.

Especially now, in time of war, I think that we have to open our hearts to love...and understand that no matter where ones finds love; its love all the same. Its caring for another human being, sharing ones heart and life with another. Loving another woman is very self affirming, and I hope that those wenches that are in love, will continue to find the open arms of friendship here. That they will feel welcome enough to bring their loved one to faire, to share their joy and happiness with others.

We don't ask for what life hands us; life has a habit of dealing us cards and theres nothing we can do but play the hand we've been delt the best way we can. Be you transsexual, lesbian, gay, bi, whatever; we're all in this game of life together; we only have one another to turn to for understanding and friendship. I'm very very proud of the kind of accepting and understanding people that faire attracts; as this speaks well of us all. Good people are often refered to as being the *salt of the earth*, and I'm proud to know so many awesome and salty wenches!

So, to all of the lesbian wenchies out there, know that you are among friends and sisters here!

I was fortunate enought to be raised by an amazing mom...I was taught that who you do (as long as its a human consenting adult) and what you do is your own business...treat me right and I will do the same...My mom what a woman!

Yep, my mom was the same - the most important thing is to love - what and who isn't as big, as long as it's love. Too bad she didn't live long enough to see any of us married or any of her grandkids.

I've always felt that it's not the sex of the person that you fall in love with, it's the person that counts. Just as you don't choose your orientation, it chooses you. My step-brother was pretty much out of the closet at a very early age when he went romping about in his underoos with a blanket tied about his neck screaming that he was Wonder Woman. I have always loved him for who he is.

When I turned 21, I found that I was more than curious about more than just men. I now consider myself tri-sexual...because chances are that if it's sexual, I'll try it at least once, twice if it was fun the first time. Right Morrigan?

And it's not really who you love, it's how you love. If you treat your partner(s) with honesty and respect and love without hesitation, it always comes back in some form or fashion.

    I love the term tri-sexual!

I like both men and women.

as most of the lesbian women I know feel as most wenches do, that women are superior to men; and prefering a womans company to a mans comes naturally.

Did you really mean it like that? I don't think that most wenches consider men inferior to women. I have a husband and a son whom I adore, and with whom I would rather spend time than with anyone on the planet. Beatriz' best friend is a rogue. And what about our own darling Lars, the GuildMaster, without whom we very possibly wouldn't be here?

Hey, I've always figured that people are people, and I'll fall in love with whomever I choose, no matter what the 'plumbing' looks like. However, I am currently on a "Boys suck; throw rocks at them," kick. I've just been treated way too badly by way too many men recently to want them anywhere near my life. One of them was even a rogue. I was so disappointed by that. I mean, really!?

However, most of the women around me are either straight, taken, or irritating as all hell, so I'm just entirely out of luck, lately. So, I've given in to the trend and taken myself all the way off the market for a whole year. Won't play the game anymore, nope, no sir! Well, not unless Fate decides to smack me upside the head really hard with someone during said year. I mean, who am I to argue with Fate?

    Default Feelings...

    Mad Kestrel,
I'll re-phrase my words...as a lesbian, I tend to have alot of lesbian friends at faire, and hang out with several lesbian wenches when we're able to connect in either Palm Springs or Glen Helen.
Many of the lesbians I know *personally* were once married and have kids, or have had men in their lives. Most of them no longer care for men, see them as less than desirable life forms, and do in fact feel women are superior to men on many levels.

This doesn't mean we don't have male friends, as it would be hard not to interact with men in our society; it means only that they, as women and wenches prefer the company of women without men or things male involved. Think of it as *woman only space*.

I do, in fact, feel women superior to men in many ways, and that doesn't mean I can't appreciate Lars and whats he's done for us, or go biking or hiking with male friends. It means I think being female is a gift, a privilage, and something better than testosterone can create. You were born with the ability to create life in your body, men weren't. Your body like that of earth itsself, cycles; birth, growth, life, age, death...rebirth. A woman is special and made so by the creator. I don't think it harsh or unfair to value the female over the male; the feminine over the masculine. So, yes, MOST of the women/wenches I personally associate with feel woman a more perfect and rational being, than the male model.

I hope that helps make my previous post more understandable. I have male friends, and married women friends. To each his own; but I also know my married friends have an opinion about the men in their lives, and I think in many instances how women feel *really* about men is universal.

Amen, Sistah! However, I am currently bitter and jaded about people in general, men in specific, so ask me again in a few months.

Oh, and can I bash on guys for a second? Thanks.

I work in a massively male dominated profession. I am a theatrical carpenter/technician and have been building sets for almost twelve years now, and doing electrics work for six. Yes, I started young! Through my work history, all of the TD's I've worked under have been male. They have ranged from so-sexist I wanted to shove their screw gun up their rear and pull the trigger at high speed, to one of my current two bosses who gets offended on his female workers behalf when incoming crews are rude to them or don't believe them capable of anything.

The other day I was working an all day shift at the campus road house which one of the local community theatres had rented out for the week. It was their load in day, and their TD drove me nuts! We had an all female crew that day, and he was giving heavy or difficult work to his volunteers (older men in their sixties and seventies) rather than the young, strong, and yes, Female, backs.

Finally I got fed up being baby-fed instructions I've been able to do in my sleep since I was 16, grabbed a screw gun, stunned him by drooling inteligently over it (3 speed, 14.4v Dewalt with hammer drill capabilites ooooooooo I'm such a DeWalt whore!) and dove under the set to actually accomplish some work. His volunteers were very impressed, he just said he hoped I didn't fuck anything up.

I mean, really! Greg wouldn't have hired us women if we couldn't do the job, just like he doesn't hire guys who can't do the job! And I run into men in this profession that act like that all the time! It drive me completely nuts! If it weren't for the fact that I've been in theatre so long already that I'm unfit for almost any other type of work (or to go out in public, really) I would think of quitting.

What gets me the worst, though is the fact that the guys who do this are nine times out of ten worse at the job than I am, or at least haven't been working it as long. Argh!

I know women are better than men, just because any man in my situation would have either given up long ago, or punched someone in the nose by now!

Okay, you may now return to your regularly scheduled programming, and I will go back to my nice calming sewing machine. (calming, yeah, right!)

Woot, I am an awesome chick. Equally good with sewing machine and drill press!
