EDIT a link might be nice :) http://www.simplicity.com/index.cfm?page=wnsimp.cfm /EDIT
So, jumping on the PotC bandwagon, Simplicity has come out with a new "pirate" pattern 4914. The women's "pirate" pattern is vomit inducing. *short* a-line skirt, bloomer style pants, neither with anything resembling enough fabric (even though both call for like 3 yds of fabric, I have no clue how they make 3yds of fabric into a not very full, just below the knee skirt!), a weird sort of faux lace up, princess seamed shirt with belled sleeves and a bizzare triangular inset at the neck. Oh, and to add insult to injury, it has a zipper up the back!

and just in case you can't figure it out yourself, it has a pattern for a square scarf and a rectangular sash. *rolls eyes*

Then mens costume 4923 is *much* better. Nary a zipper in sight, I don't think it even has elastic in the waist of the pants. A good basic shirt pattern, both lace up and with a cravat, a nice short and long button up vest (although I'd leave the back ties off on both) and a lovely "pirate" frock coat with huge turned up sleeves. The pants have hook closures and buttons at the legs. here is a somewhat distressing mention of a 2" piece of 1/4" wide velcro for the shirts and pants.... I have no idea what that's for, but you could probably leave it out.

Also new this fall is what I can only assume is a Van Helsing inspired pattern 4916... or possibly League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, but I don't think so...
2 coats with detatchable capes (one with notched collar and one with a stand up collar and frogs or buckles) and a shorter notched collar coat. The image for the notched collar coat on the website looks like Kid Rock, except I think its a woman. Also included is a basic vest and a jabbot. *shrug* looks OK, but I don't know Victorian-esque outerwear, so I really don't know.
