    Default Career-Builers.com - argh!

For anyone who plans to use CareerBuilders.com, make sure your resume is PRIVATE if you aren't REALLY looking, at the very least DO NOT list your phone number! I updated my resume there last night, just for something to do (it still had the address from almost 5 years ago.) I thought I had it "private" but I didn't! My answering machine had a FIELD DAY.

I'm not actually seriously looking for a new job at this point - we are too short staffed as it is (3 other employees in my department had the same idea, but got there first) and as an allied health professional, I just can't bring myself to leave the department, or even more so, my patients, in that kind of lurch. That being said, I got at least NINE phone calls today from staffing recruiters from anywhere between Texas, Florida, and NYC - I live in the middle of New York State, ~5 hrs from NYC.

My poor hubby was asleep, as he worked the previous night. These calls mostly came in a 2-3 hour period - as soon as he'd fall asleep, another one. He ended up too exhausted to even turn off the ringer. I of course gave him sincere appologies when I came home and found all the messages.

The resume is now private (in the first options section, where it lists your name is where you change it). So tomorrow I get to go into work and make sure (since we are hiring for the postion I posted) that noone gets the wrong idea! *sigh*

So anywho, if you're looking, you're all set there, but if you just want to keep things updated "just in case" be careful!

I know what you mean! My hubby posted there when he retired from the Navy. When he got a job, he THOUGHT his information was deleted (as requested by him.) NOPE! Somehow, even tho his info was no longer readily available on the Internet, employers were still able to get the info and kept calling/emailing.

He was getting calls from companies requiring skills he didn't have, because they were employers from totally off-subject companies! They didn't even read his resume'. Many set up appointments and wasted his time because they just didn't read all his info.

    Very frustrating!
