    Default Bodice lacing.

So, what do you use/where do you get lacing for a bodice? I need something that the lacing won't slip out of knots, yet is still pretty and not "shoelace"-y, that I can get only enough for one bodice out of and not be buying in gross.

I use black boot laces, they look like leather from far away and they can take a beating
    Hope that this helps.

I use multiple strands of ribbon to match whatever colors I'm wearing that day. When done in bows it can be quite colorful and feminine.

Nothing works better & stands up to weather like rawhide strips! Either find your Friendly Neighborhood Shire Leather Worker, or go to a craft store ( Like AC Moore or Michael's) for a small card of lacing. It stands up to much tugging, and looks great on, too! And it withstands the casual "tug" from a horny patron, too.

If you need a knot that doesn't slip as readily, try a Surgeon's Knot....instead of only one throw for the first part of the tie, wrap the end around again, and pull tight....then proceed with your regular tie....locks in tight....we use it to pull far separated skin edges together when there is a bit of tension.........

For what it's worth--I always try to keep an extra lace for my bodice in my pouch. This way if whatever I'm experimenting with to lace my bodice doesn't work out to be tough enough to handle the job and breaks, I have a back up.

It's a bad habit of mine that I do this, but it's almost inevitable that I get myself all gussied up and get in the car and drive all the way up to faire only to realize, I forgot my laces at home.

Ideally, I have ribbons that I use, usually 2 to coordinate what I'm wearing. If I don't want to be all girly with ribbon, I use the boot lace thing. They really do look like leather if you're not on top of them.
Move along, nothing to see here...

Oh, the ribbons in bodices sound so great! How wide of a ribbon do y'all use? I can just see this on my new bodice (trying to wait patiently for it to arrive).

I usually use 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. I like them thick. (The ribbon, the ribbon, sickos)
