Default Help for a newbie please

OK, I've been attending Faire for years. But I'm a newbie when it comes to garb.

I'm excited about ordering my first bodice. I'm not a do it yourselfer, nor do I have the budget for a custom work. So I'm going for a comercial bodice.

The question I have is about proprtions. how are they supposed to fit.

I'm right in the line between small and medium. (acually, my bust measurement is in the small colum of the size chart and my waist is in the medium)

So which way to I lean? do I want it too tight or size up?

    Thanks,

    K.J.

I'd go smaller, because you can always let laces out a bit, but if a bodice is too big, alas, no fluffing for you.

Unless that's not of paramount importance to you. If you really just want comfort over cleavage, go for the larger size.

    Good luck either way!

First off - don't discount custom work right off the bat as "too expensive". I know a number of gals on the Wenches' boards who do quality custom work for less than many of the "commercial" bodice makers - and you're likely to get a better product for your money. (My custom-crafted bodices start at $55 for a fully reversible cotton twill peasant's bodice, for example)

Personally, I'd lean towards the smaller size - you can always let the laces out at the waist, and it's nice to be able to cinch the bust area nice and tight for support and clevage.

That said, call/email/smoke signal the manufacturer and ask them how their bodices fit. Send them your measurements and ask them what size they would reccomend. They'll know what will work best for you!
