Yes, that's right. They've got a 4 person crew...3 gay men and a lesbian doing over straight women. It premiers tonight on Bravo, but I saw the sneak peek last night. Not as good as the guy version. I hope it gets better. For one, they didn't make over the woman...all they did was help her shop and told her to use hot rollers in her hair. No stylist, cut or color of any kind? What kind of makeover is *that*? The men get more. The apartment make-over was good.

The chemistry of the Fab 5 is hard to duplicate, so I don't know how well these folks can do in their shadow.

Remember the early fab 5 episodes..the budget was smaller so they did not do as much. Perhaps it is the same thing with the new version...wait and see if it "works" before it has a big budget to work with.

I keep checking to see when they'll open it up beyond the metro area, I submitted jay for a makeover in 2003 and keep reminding them he's still wearing the same damn stuff lol

This show is also more aimed at females and gay males. . . please take note of the Hunky Crew that comes in to help with the make over
At least that was on the sneak peek . . . I haven't seen the first episode yet. . .
I do like the license plate "Gal Pals"
I for one am willing to give it a chance just to see where it goes.

Didn't watch last night's "premier" episode. How was it? Better than the sneak peek I hope.

The original Queer Eye episodes, like the first 2 at least had 3 different members than they do now. Only Kayan and Carson were there originally. The chemistry didn't work so they got rid of three and replaced them with Thom, Jai and Ted.

Maybe Girl's problem is similar and we'll see cast adjustments as a result.

Some of the original cast did not want to make the move from Boston to NY as well...they had "real" jobs....and diid not want to risk flopping....somehow seems they might be regretting that choice???

I did watch the "premier episode"
They did give the girl some advice on how to do her hair.
And during the cast watching the victim portion - while she was doing her makeup Honey mentioned that wasn't how she showed her to do some step in the makeup
I have a feeling they end up with way too much footage on the stuff that they do with these women and are not able to show things like the makeup tips.

Also from both versions - I want to know how they get the paint to dry (in one day) to the point that they can place furniture and have guests over.

One guy tried to sue the creator because he felt he was robbed of his chance to make money off a show he helped originate.

Not sure about 'Girl'....but on 'Guy', they don't.

It's actually done over a 3 day period, compressed and planned out to appear as though it's a one day, start-to-finish-makeover. IIRC, there was a piece on the process on Bravo's website not too long ago.
