Duct tape bodice pattern

I'm going to do this on my 11 yr old today. Is it as easy as it looks? Or, are there any tips and tricks I need to know. She wants a bodice with a stomacher, much like a pendragon and I couldn't find a pattern tiny enough for her (girls size 8/10).

I've never had a problem doing these....others have. I guess it depends on the sewer.

If you duct tape over an old tshirt (you will sacrifice it, so don't love it) build the duct tape to the desired bodice, then cut it off and cut into pieces (and don't forget to add seam allowances when cutting the fabric), you souldn't have a problem.

Use short lengths of duct tape, and over lap rather than trying to wrap it up in one long bit. also, set an outline (like at the top pf the edge, the bottom, the shoulders, a center line)then fill in it turns out smoother and easier to make certain that it is symetrical.

Ok, so i just tried this method on my little sister, becuase she is rather well endowed, and it took us almost an hour to finish the duct taping.

Mainly because we were laughing so hard that i couldn't get her to suck it in anymore.

It was really hard working around her DDD's. I really had to take my time.

But it seems to have worked, I haven't gotten to the finished product yet, just the prototype, but it fits rather well, only thing left to do is find some of hte steel boning.

I'm not any further along than Brigid on my daughter's either, but the pieces look good. The tips left above are good ones. Good Luck!

I did this with Bridget Beadweaver, who is well endowed also (DD). When going around the breasts, I found that making an "X" between them, like the old cross your heart bra commercial, and then taking about 6" pieces of tape and making almost a starburst pattern of each breast (the center being the nipple area), seemed to form them well. You also want to do a base layer of tape in one direction, say horizontal, the second layer in the opposite direction, vertical, and a top layer back horizontal. It will make the form hold up better.

My one piece of advice - do not do this in a warm room -
I adore my local 13 sisters and we had a S n B party - Kae the wonder that she became the Mistress of the Duct Tape - Well I have a problem that if I get to warm / hot I will pass out. so she is making my bodice and doing a great job - Duct Tape DOES NOT BREATHE so therefore I am getting really warm. She was able to speed through the rest and I have a wonderful pattern from her efforts. (In a house full of people it is always warmer then in an empty house) So make sure that whomever is being taped is kept comfortable - make sure they are drinking water and that the room is not too warm to begin with.
