This year I have the honor of being nominated for Madame of Local 34. I am excited and happy to be considered for the job and know I will be following in the footsteps of great wenches that have held the title. I have so many ideas there isn’t enough space to put them all down so I am hitting some of the highlights.

Without a doubt the biggest thing I want to bring to the group is fun. Faire is the place we all go to get away from the real world and enjoy the day. I want to organize several activities each day to give everyone different options so they can participate at their level of comfort doing things they enjoy. Even with several events organized, I still want to be spontaneous and approachable for anything that can come our way during a day at faire

In saying that, I want to listen to what each Wench has to say about what they like and don’t like about our activities and strive to become more visible around faire. In the years that I have been at faire, I have organized Scavenger Hunts, Poker Walks, Pub Crawls, Clan Games, Trivia Day and Clan Mischief Day and I am always looking for new inspiration when I talk to someone.

I would also like to add activities throughout the year. One idea I want to try is to have special events that may include one of our own craftspeople from faire holding a seminar for the day. I know I have spoken to at least two that are excited about this opportunity and would love to work with our guild.

I think a big challenge to spontaneity is communication during faire. I would like to develop a way to get messages to each other during the day. If you have ever tried to find someone during a day at faire, you know it is a daunting task. There have been times when something developed that would have been good to have more members but we can’t find everyone. Personally with everything I carry in my pouch, I can neither hear nor feel my phone so phones are pointless. I have been talking with some of the shop owners about hanging up some kind of flag that will notify us that there is something that needs our attention and that will allow us to have options for anything that comes up during the day.

I know that being Madame is a lot of work and I am up for the challenge. I feel leading Local 34 would not only be a tough job, but an extremely rewarding one. As Madame, nothing will give me more happiness and pride than seeing Wenches being involved. The organization, imagination, and energy I bring will be a benefit to our Local. I hope that you will consider voting for me as Madame.
