    Smile Major fitness overhaul!

I've actually gotten into a routine and a diet modification that's working!

I walk at least 2 miles per day, sometimes carrying weights, sometimes not.
After my walk there are yoga stretches, free weight training and some soft pilates moves.

I've temporaririly modified my diet to include two awesome Visalus protein shakes oper day as meal replacement. I'm signed up for the 90 day challenge, but I'm really just using it as an opportunity to kick start my weight loss while evaluating a few healthy options for a more long trm plan. I will say that the shakes and supplements are makig me feel a lot better/more energized.

What are some free weight exercises others are doing? I'm also looking for some tips on some good core strengthening moves. I'm doing variations of crunches and a few lunges, but they're boring.

I'd love to hear what everyone else is up to so I can get some inspiration!

    Bravo on your efforts!!

Due to injuries, I'm somewhat limited on the physical exercises I can do. I walk 1.5-2 miles per day at the moment, at a rate of 3.5mph on a 2-3% incline and move my arms while walking (sometimes using hand weights). When I started, I could barely walk 1/4 mile at 1.5-2mph with no incline. I do have 1-2 protein shakes per day (due to my weight loss plan requiring it) to help me get to my required 60-80 grams of protein per day. I also drink at least 64 ounces of fluids per day (so yeah, I pee a lot, lol!)

I also love using my Wii and Xbox Kinect for additional exercise, especially on hot days.

I can't do lunges due to bad knees but I know my knees have strengthened from the walking. I even jogged a little on my treadmill!

Keep up the great workouts, there really is a GOOD feeling that follows isn't there?!!

I too have joined a gym so I could also do some strength training and using the elliptical. I have two core exercises that I work in once in a while.

One is called a plank - I balance on my elbows and toes for at lest 45 seconds. When I get stronger and can do this easily in 1 minute, then I will advance to balancing on hands and toes.

Another core is what I call the 'crunch it all' - You have the legs straight up in the air then do a crunch lifting butt and shoulders off the mat. Boy do I feel this one later.

I have lost a smidgen of weight in the last two months but I feel I am on the right track. I have a pair of thigh high pirate boots that I would like to be able to get into by fall!

Way to go on making a change!

I use the free resources at nerdfitness(dot)com specifically the beginning body weight exercises, because I can do them at home!

    Good luck to you!

I'm trying to re-start myself. Due to the home issues I've been dealing with, and the major change in my scheduling (no more school + no more daycare = full time mom, and I'm not used to it yet).... suffice to say that I lost all progress. So now I'm trying to figure out how to get back into the habit of healthy fitness in my home. I have a few free-weights that I use - though I need to work out a weekly schedule for REGULAR use. sparkpeople(dot)com is also an option for fitness ideas, including separate and combined core, upper body, and lower body workout ideas. I'm just terrible about signing on regularly. Someone needs to ...encourage me. *laughter*

Well I started about two months ago.. Lost 8 gained it back.. So last week I am putting myself in a routine two mile walk and staring Monday swimming 30 min after said walk. The Base pool opened last week so I am gonna start swimming. I have never worked out with water before I am hoping its going to be the best kept secret.
